BUTTERFLIES IN YOUR STOMACH

Before you go on a date for the first time, you feel nervous because you have never experienced such a situation before and you don't know what it would be like. You experience a mixed feeling of nervousness and excitement at the same time. The idiom 'butterflies in your stomach' basically means to feel nervous before doing something very important or stressful. 

For example, you are nervous before an important class test, this could be due to lack of preparation. This means, you have butterflies in your stomach. Having butterflies in your stomach may give you a tickling sensation in your stomach due to being nervous about something.

Example 01 : Before going on the roller coaster, I had butterflies in my stomach, as I had never experienced it before.
Ex 02 : When Maria was waiting to be called for her interview, she had butterflies in her stomach as it was her first interview.
Ex 03 : Before receiving the final year examination results, Mary had butterflies in her stomach.
Ex 04 : When Catherine's boyfriend went down on his knees to propose marriage, she had butterflies in her stomach. 
Ex 05 : As dental treatments are painful, little John has butterflies in his stomach whenever he visits his dentist.
Ex 06 : When I was questioned by the police for the murder in my building, I had butterflies in my stomach.
Ex 07 : Flying for the first time, the lady pilot had butterflies in her stomach when he took off.
Ex 08 : Allwyn had butterflies in his stomach when he held his new born baby for the first time, it was a whole new feeling for him.
Ex 09 : Leena had butterflies in her stomach on her first day of school as a teacher, as she didn't know anyone around. 
Ex 10 : All the employees had butterflies in their stomach when they were called for an urgent meeting by their seniors.
