SKEPTICAL
Skeptical :
Meaning : in doubt or unwilling to believe
Many a times you aren't sure about something, which means, you have some doubt about it.
If someone tells you something that you aren't willing to believe, that means you are skeptical about what is told to you. being skeptical basically means to be in doubt about something or you are not believing it.
If you are skeptical about something, you are always in two minds, for example, whether is it possible or is it not possible, OR is that true or not, can I fulfill a particular commitment or not ?
In short, it leaves you feeling very unsure about something.
You are often skeptical before making big decisions in your life, such as deciding which career you should opt for.
That means you are not sure or you are in doubt about the choice you make.
When it's difficult or hard to believe something or someone, you are skeptical, you are unwilling to believe or you doubt something.
As the word 'sceptical' describes a person's feeling, it is an Adjective.

HOUSEHOLDS WERE LIVING IN POVERTY
Union supporters demonstrated in southern Spain. A report by Caritas, the Catholic charity, found that 22 percent of Spanish households were living in poverty and about 600,000 had no income whatsoever. These numbers are expected to continue to get worse in the coming months.
Simpatizantes sindicales se manifestaron en el sur de España. Un informe de Caritas, la caridad católicca, encontró que el 22 por ciento de los hogares españoles estaban viviendo en la pobreza y más de 600.000 no tuvieron ningun tipo de ingreso. Se prevee que estas cifras empeoraran en los proximos meses.

APPEASE
This means to calm or satisfy a person, usually by giving what was asked for.
It could also mean , giving into the demands of someone or a situation.
When your friends are arguing, you try to calm down the situation, that means you appease such a situation.
Sometimes, store managers have to give extra benefits to appease angry customers.
So basically, the word 'appease' means, to calm or satisfy a person, or a desire, by giving what is asked for or needed.
'Appease' is a Verb, as it is an act of satisfying or calming.

CUTS TO FREE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
People demonstrated in Barcelona against recent cuts to free medical assistance for illegal immigrants. Little relief is in sight as the country’s regional governments, facing their own budget crisis, are chipping away at a range of previously free services, including school lunches for low-income families.
La gente se manifesta en Barcelona contra recientes recortes a la asistencia medica gratuita para inmigrantes indocumentados. Hay pocas perspectivas de mejoria ya que los gobiernos regionales del pais, que enfrentan sus propias crisis de presupuesto, estan renunciando a una amplia gama de servicios anteriormente gratuitos que incluian comidas escolares para familias con bajos ingresos.
